INVESTMENT IN GOLD AND UTI GOLD EXCHANGE TRADED SCHEME: A COMPARATIVE STUDY

Dr. Satya Narayan Meena

India was called the golden bird in the ancient times. Gold has been imported into India since ancient times. There was a demand of Indian spices in the Middle East (like Mesopotamia) and Eastern Europe (like Macedonia). Spices were exported from India and in return India received gold as an exchange value. This is the reason why in the ancient times large deposits of gold have been found in India and were deposited in the temples, forts and palaces. And that was the main reason why foreign invaders have attached India from time to time and returned with huge volume of gold other valuable items. Gold was treated a good investment and at that time it was considered appropriate to invest in gold to reduce the effects of bad days.
