This paper provides a comprehensive review of the evolution of managerial cynicism as a research domain, tracing its conceptual foundations, measurement advancements, antecedents, and consequences. It highlights major scholarly contributions and integrates findings from scholarly literature. The paper also identifies unresolved issues and proposes future research directions, emphasizing the complex, dynamic, and sometimes functional nature of managerial cynicism.
