Role of Artificial Intelligence and Adoption of a Child in India - Changing Dimensions

As per reports, 4,515 child adoptions, the highest since 2015-16, were recorded in 2024-25. Increased awareness programmes conducted by the respective authorities coupled with the identification initiatives and digital transparency, 4,155 children were placed in domestic adoptions.[1] Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) is an autonomous and statutory body which was set up in the year 1990. It monitors and regulates the domestic as well as inter-country adoptions. It is a statutory body of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India under Section 68 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 amended in 2021 and has been working as a nodal body for all the adoptions.
