Socio-Economic Perspectives of Women Empowerment

Women empowerment is an important aspect of social and economic development in modern society. The development of a nation depends upon the participation and contribution of women in different areas of life. In India women have traditionally faced problems such as poverty illiteracy unemployment gender discrimination financial dependency and limited participation in decision making activities. Although various government programmes and welfare schemes have been introduced many women especially in rural and backward areas still face social and economic inequalities. The present study titled “Socio-Economic Perspectives of Women Empowerment” focuses on understanding the social and economic dimensions of women empowerment and their importance in improving the condition of women in society. The study explains that empowerment is a multidimensional process which includes education employment awareness financial independence social participation and leadership development. Education and employment improve confidence decision making ability and economic stability among women while social empowerment increases awareness dignity and equality. The study also discusses major challenges such as unemployment unequal wages social restrictions and lack of opportunities that continue to affect women’s development. Overall the study concludes that socio-economic empowerment is essential for achieving gender equality social justice inclusive growth and sustainable development.
