Digitalization and Green Banking: Theoretical Insights into Paperless Banking and Environmental Impact

In the banking industry, digitalization has become a game-changer, drastically altering conventional banking practices while promoting environmental sustainability. With the help of modern technology, green banking highlights eco-friendly banking methods like electronic documents, mobile applications, internet banking, and paperless transactions. This study explores the possible environmental effects of paperless banking and offers a theoretical understanding of the idea as a fundamental element of green banking. Digital banking reduces carbon emissions and helps preserve natural resources by using less paper, energy, and physical infrastructure. The study examines current conceptions about environmental responsibility, technological innovation, and sustainable development in the context of banking. It demonstrates how digitalization aligns banking operations with environmental objectives while fostering operational efficiency, cost reduction, and improved client convenience. The research also addresses issues like opposition to technology adoption, cybersecurity threats, and the digital divide. The results indicate that attaining sustainable financial systems and promoting long-term environmental protection can be greatly aided by the merger of digitalization and green banking practices. The study comes to the conclusion that paperless banking is a strategic approach to ecologically friendly banking as well as a technology improvement.
