Ms. Immaculate Lowara S.T. & Dr. Swathi Pradeeba P

In the 21stcentury, population growth and changing environmental conditions have led to a range of environmental challenges. Higher education institutions play a significant role in the overall development of the nation. If these institutions begin implementing environment-focused HRM practices, including green recruitment and selection, green training and development, green employee involvement, green rewards and compensation, and green employee engagement, these practices can influence faculty pro-environmental behavior. The studies aim to identify the colleges’ current GHRM practices, assess the scope and effects of these practices at an arts and science college in Chennai, and analyze the relationship between various Green Human Resource Management practices and the job performance of teaching faculty in selected arts and science colleges in Chennai. The research is based on primary and secondary data sources. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire issued to arts and science colleges in Chennai. Secondary data were collected from websites, books, and articles. The study adopted a descriptive research method and simple random sampling techniques. The sample comprised 143 teaching faculty members in five arts and science colleges in Chennai, and the collected data were analyzed using statistical tools such as Percentage Analysis, Chi-square, One-way ANOVA, and Correlation. Hence, better Green Human Resource Management practices are essential for every institution, as they contribute to job involvement, Job attachment, and Job commitment.
