Women in Transition: Bridging Tradition and Innovation in the Field of Commerce

Shyam Narayan Tiwary

Women in transition from tradition to innovation in the field of commerce reflects a significant shift in their economic roles and contributions. Traditionally, women were confined to household responsibilities and informal economic activities, with limited access to formal education, financial resources, and decision-making platforms. However, with changing socio-economic conditions and increased awareness of gender equality, women have gradually entered and reshaped the domain of commerce. Education and skill development have played a vital role in enabling women to participate actively in business, trade, and entrepreneurship. Access to financial services, digital platforms, and government initiatives has further empowered women to establish and manage enterprises. Today, women are not only contributors but also innovators in commerce, driving growth through creative business models, leadership, and sustainable practices. Their involvement has expanded from small-scale ventures to large corporate sectors, influencing both local and global markets. Despite these advancements, women in commerce continue to face challenges such as gender bias, unequal access to capital, and balancing professional and personal responsibilities. These barriers highlight the need for inclusive policies, financial support systems, and a supportive business environment that encourages women’s full participation. The transition of women in commerce signifies more than economic inclusion; it represents social transformation and progress. By bridging tradition and innovation, women are redefining commercial practices and contributing to economic development. Strengthening education, access to resources, and equal opportunities will further enhance their role as leaders and innovators in commerce. This ongoing journey underscores the importance of empowering women to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
